About Jan van der Asdonk

Jan is a multi-focussed designer interested in everything that requires creativity and design, fueled by everything he sees, hears, tastes, smells and touches. Eternally hungry for knowledge and creator of what sometimes can be called “new”.

His profound love ranges from perfection and functional design to moments when you have just thought of something new to this world. Most of his love is channeled through his Mac, resulting partly in his submissions to the Studio.
His hatred is usually directed towards “been-there-done-that-design”, bad and cheap quality and especially Windows [we are still looking for a cure, however Microsoft has refused his demands to stop producing software].

His usual creative working hours range from 2100 to 0500, doing things that do not fit the dogmatic regulations of the ruling class, with the day providing him with much-needed resting hours. Alienated from newspapers and time, two aspects that do not stimulate his creativity, he only takes information to him when needed, leaving more “free space” for brainstorming.

At the moment Jan is an editor for the Studio, controlling both quality and perfection, adding nutritious information when needed. His personal contributions are that of his monthly Creative Columns; creative spam of his somewhat distorted views and theories of the world around him.

Jan is a master student at the Department of Industrial Design located at the Technical University of Eindhoven.
