TED: ideas worth spreading

Today starts the beginning of a possibly very interesting piece of inspiration for you, our dear reader.

Let us introduce to you TED. This is not your run-of-the-mill next-door friendly neighbour. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has even become broader.

Their mission is about spreading ideas. They do so by showcasing the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes at the annual TED conference.

Then there is the TED Prize. Designed to leverage the TED Community’s exceptional array of talent and resources, it is annually given to three individuals. These winners receive $100,000 and the granting of “One Wish to Change the World”. After several months of preparation, they unveil their wish at an award ceremony held during the TED Conference. These Wishes have led to collaborative initiatives with far-reaching impact.

In showing these ideas worth spreading beyond the attendees of the conference TEDTalks was launched. The most interesting talks are posted online, spreading the word on all that is TED.

From here on there are 3 things you can do:

1: you hurry and direct your browser straight to TED’s website and visit the TEDTalks section and start viewing all the interesting talks

2: continue your daily lives, and let us present you with the most inspiring talks from TED

3: possibly remain ignorant on all that is TED, missing out on a vital piece of inspiration

Personally we suggest you go for option number 2, since it saves you a lot of time and provide you with another reason to return to this blog, next to our wide range of inspirational and creative content.

Every once in a while we will showcase an inspirational TED-thinker-or doer. We will provide with a short description, the link to his speech and, when available, links to the person’s work for you to see.

You can find our first inspirational TED content in the next article. Enjoy!
